Every day the excellent care we provide and supporting services is shaped by our board and executive leadership team.
I oversee everything that happens in the kitchen. We work closely with our residences, so they get a lot of input into the planning of our menu.
Why do I do it? Because I love it.
When you support elderly people, or provide support to them, it makes a tremendous difference to their quality of life. I love to make them smile. Because that’s why they’re here and that’s why I work here – to make them happy and give them the best care.
We all work together to provide holistic care to our residents. It’s a very close knit community in which we care for each other and provide care needs for each other as well.
Chair
Francis joined our board in 2012 and was elected to the position of Chair in 2021 following the resignation of the previous chair, Don Neander OAM. Francis holds an Associate Diploma in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Business, Master of Business Administration and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. Francis has his own consultancy in change and infrastructure development and has over 30 years experience in the resources, facilities and government sectors including health care. Francis brings his professional experience and is dedicated to the Vision and Mission of Southern Cross Care Qld. At his Parish of St Peter and Pauls, Bulimba he has been a member of the Parish Council and is a member of the Finance Council. Francis currently chairs the Assets and Investments Committee.
Director
Tony brings 40 years of experience in the areas of strategic procurement, purchasing planning, materials management and project management from various organisational levels within the Queensland Government, including as Director of Procurement at the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. Tony joined the Knights of the Southern Cross in 1999, served in a number of executive roles and is currently Branch Chairman of Branch 93 Pine Rivers. Tony has been a member of the Southern Cross Care Governance and Risk Committee since 2016 and joined the board in 2017.
Josephine is an experienced Accountant in both private and public sectors. Josephine is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants representing the Chartered Accountants in Government and was the first female lay member of the Diocese Development Fund Board where she served for 7 years. Josephine is a registered Mentor under both the Institute CA Program and the CPA Program for CPA Australia and with formal education consisting of Diploma in Christian Ministry and Theology and Graduate Australian Institute of Company Directors has brought a wealth of knowledge to our board since joining as Treasurer in 2013. Josephine currently chairs the Finance Committee.
Dr Phillip Good is the Director of Palliative Care at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Brisbane Senior Specialist in Palliative Care at Mater Health Services and Associate Professor at the Mater Research Institute – The University of Queensland, Australia. Having trained in Queensland, NSW and Victoria he spent 7 years working in Newcastle, NSW before returning to Brisbane in 2010. In 2012, A/Professor Good completed a PhD on evidence-based palliative care and is involved in both quantitative and qualitative research studies. In 2015 he was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to develop academic leadership in Palliative Care. Dr Phillip Good brings his expertise to Southern Cross Care Qld, joining the board in 2020.
Stephen joined our board in July 2012 and brings to our organisation extensive experience in Information, Technology and organisational management. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, a Master’s Degree in Technology Management and is certified in Program and Project Management. Stephen has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry specialising in Project Management and Business Process reengineering and brings wide-ranging knowledge, professional experience and involvement in community groups to our board, in addition to his active membership of the Knights of the Southern Cross.
Prem has over 30 years experience as a senior financial executive across industries including business advisory, construction, resources and the not for profit sector. For over 25 years, Prem has been Honorary Treasurer of a local St Vincent De Paul Conference, and has volunteered his time settling and supporting refugees as they adjust to life in Australia. Currently, Prem is Chief Financial Officer with EPIC, providers of employment services for people with disabilities. He has a Masters of Business Administration (University of Queensland), a Bachelor of Business (QUT) and in 2020 was awarded a scholarship to undertake an Executive Leadership Program at the McKinsey Academy. He is a member of several professional bodies including AICD, FCA, FGIA, FCPA and FITA. Prem joined SCCQ’s Governance, Risk and Finance Committee in 2016, and joined SCCQ’s Board in December 2022.
Sr Sally Fuller is a Canossian Sister and registered psychologist. Sally currently works in the areas of mission and formation in the Catholic sector and private practice as a psychologist. Sally holds post-graduate degrees in the areas of counselling, psychology and theology.
Justin has held multiple leadership positions in a variety of industries and brings with him extensive business and NFP experience, including overseeing teams responsible for billion-dollar business ventures through to working with small charities to further their goals. Justin currently works to deliver sustainable social impact through tailored governance, advisory and specialist services delivered with his highly experienced team at Right Source. Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Justin offers face-to-face and virtual solutions to his clients, and is also a Member of CPA Australia and a Fellow Member of the Governance Institute of Australia. Justin’s passion and the driving force in his career is people, and he has a unique ability to communicate and relate with people from all walks of life.
Damien joined the board in 2018 and brings international experience in brand profitability, marketing and business strategy to our organisation. Damien has worked with global multinationals, small and medium business, start-ups and large organisations across a range of different industries, including consumer goods, professional services, defence, infrastructure, medical, food and beverage and media/tech. Damien is a partner of FOUND, a Brand Strategy practice specialising in Customer Value Proposition and helping brands determine and demonstrate how they create value. Damien holds a Bachelor’s degree in business and economics and an MBA in business strategy and marketing.
Chief Executive Officer
Appointed CEO in November 2019, Jason Eldering has significantly shaped the vision, culture and services of Southern Cross Care Queensland since his appointment. His extensive experience in aged care, home care, and retirement living, along with his leadership roles at Regis Health Care, St Vincent’s Health Australia, and Aveo, have developed him with the insights and wisdom to build a loving culture, focus on innovation, performance and excellence. His philosophy is grounded in servant leadership, prioritising the team’s needs over self. Fostering a healthy working environment where team members thrive and produce high-quality work is critical as we serve communities and people. With a Master of Business Administration (MBA), he is committed to continuous learning, listening and professional development.
Chief Operating Officer
In 2020, Michael joined SCCQ in the role of Chief Operating Officer, leveraging his extensive professional background in the aged care sector and diverse industries. With a strong accounting background, Michael has previously held key positions such as CFO and COO at organisations including Regis, Cabrini Health, Royal Freemasons, and CraigCare. Michael’s career highlights include significant involvement in business transformations, growth through acquisitions and developments, private equity investment, business performance turnarounds, and the transition of private entities to ASX-listed status. A Fellow of CPA Australia and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Michael has actively contributed to not-for-profit initiatives for many years by raising funds and managing investments to support programs directly benefiting the community. His passion lies in doing important work for vulnerable people within the communities he helps to serve.
Chief Financial Officer
In 2022, Tracey Campion joined SCCQ with her an extensive professional background. Prior to this, she held the position of CFO at Eureka Group Holdings, an ASX-listed senior rental village operator, and Taylor Byrne Valuers, a property valuations company. Tracey also spent five years in Dubai, where she held senior finance executive roles across financial services, property investment, and a private equity group.
As a member of CPA Australia and a GAICD with the Australian Institute of Directors, Tracey possesses significant experience in guiding and mentoring finance teams. Her genuine passion lies in supporting SCCQ’s vision to create communities where best lives are lives, and also to gain a practical understanding of how an aging population and changing customers’ needs will shape the future of Aged Care, Retirement Living and Home Care Services, and how these factors will influence SCCQ’s business both now and in the years to come.
Chief of People & Mission
Michael Hart joined SCCQ in 2018 and has played a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s mission and identity as the Chief of People & Mission. Prior to this, he served as Mission Executive at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane, spent over 20 years working for the Catholic Church in both rural and metropolitan settings, and has made notable contributions in the field of ministry, education and community services. Michael holds a Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies and an Executive Masters of Business Administration from Australian Catholic University, and also holds a Graduate Certificate of Leadership and Catholic Culture, a Diploma in Community Services (Youth Work) and a Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training. Michael’s multifaceted career journey reflects his passion for mission-driven work, strategic leadership, and community service. He is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections, empowering teams, and integrating mission within any organisation in which he serves.
Chief of Business
Mark joined SCCQ in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience and a speciality in Digital Technology transformation and Enterprise Applications. Before joining SCCQ, Mark held various Senior Management roles across diverse industries, including notable organisations like Uniting Care, Fujitsu Australia, and IBM. His academic credentials include an MBA from Melbourne Business School, two Deans awards for Excellence, a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Commerce. Although Mark has had many commercial achievements and senior roles throughout his career, both in Australia and overseas, his passion lies in working with organisations who have a heart for communities and serving those communities through the application of technology.
Chief Customer Officer
Meredith joined SCCQ’s executive leadership team in 2018 and has extensive experience in project management, marketing management, database and CRM development. Her experience spans across industries including hotels, retail, natural health and development, as well as running her own successful business for many years. Meredith was the recipient of the Global Award – Accor Silver Bernache, and in 2023 she won the Leadership in Positive Ageing Award for the development and success behind the Customer Insights Program at SCCQ. Meredith has a passion for excellence in customer service, an ability to listen deeply and honestly, and analyse and understand what customers want, to deliver actionable and positive change.
Chief of Governance, Risk and Research
Sandra joined SCCQ in 2020 and oversees the organisation’s corporate governance responsibilities, ensuring ongoing compliance with legislative requirements and organisational policies. Sandra also provides strategic leadership on clinical matters, participation in research activities, risk management systems, and guides continuous improvement initiatives at SCCQ. With over 24 years working in aged services, Sandra has held senior roles in home care, aged care, retirement living, acute care, and disaster management across both not-for-profits and private sector, including Bolton Clarke, Aveo, Freedom Aged Care, LASAQ, RSL Care and Blue Care. A registered nurse with a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Dispute Resolution, Sandra actively engages in research, education, training, rural leadership, and clinical teaching. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, and a Board Member of North and West Remote Health, contributing to state and federal advisory groups.
Chief Of Developments and Capital Planning
Stuart joined SCCQ in 2023 bringing with him over 40 years of experience in Property Development and Asset Management, including previous senior and executive roles at Lend Lease, Brisbane Housing Company, Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane, and Yourtown. Stuart’s formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Economics, Graduate Diploma in Construction Management, FINSIA, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also a Volunteer Rural Fire fighter and Secretary of the Rosevale Rural Fire Brigade, and holds various roles on the Board of Directors for Brisbane Fruit & Vegetable Markets, Bolton Clarke, Deaf Connect, and Property Council Queensland. Stuart considers his role at SCCQ as one of stewardship with the goal of setting up a sustainable property platform for the organisation for the next 100 years.
