Residential Aged Care

Southern Cross Care (Qld) has developed 12 of the best aged care facilities in South-East Queensland. We have been providing residential aged care services for more than 30 years. Our focus is to provide individualised care programs which intend to maximise the sense of independence and daily fulfillment for each of our residents.

Our facilities are able to provide the full range of care needs from low care through to the maximum level of care. This provides the opportunity for residents to stay in the same facility as their care needs become greater; this is known as Ageing in Place. Care support can range from daily grooming and personal hygiene to more complex needs as residents become more frail or medical needs increase, like:

  • Mobility Assistance
  • High level clinical care
  • Pain management
  • Medication assistance
  • Nutritional assessment and help with feeding
  • 24 hour support and care

80% of all aged care residents have some level of dementia. Our staff are experienced in dealing with all levels of dementia - from those a bit forgetful about which medication to take, to those residents who cannot recognise a doorway as a door and require a secure environment. Some of our facilities have dedicated areas for people with dementia and residents who need a secure environment.

Many of our residential facilities also provide respite care, either for the carer or for the client.

We pride ourselves on a holistic care approach to aged care, providing our residents with choice, compassion, understanding and dignity through all stages of their lives. We value and respect their individual needs and help people achieve health and well being in a supportive family friendly environment.

The family members of our residents can rest assured that Mum, Dad, Grandad or Grandma is:

  • Living in an environment they can call home, beautifully decorated and carefully appointed
  • Being treated as a respected individual
  • Retaining their dignity and freedom of choice
  • Maintaining their independence and well-being
  • Having their personal interests catered for
  • Benefiting from quality companionship
  • And participating in outings and activities whenever possible.

Respite Care

Respite Care enables carers to have a break from the requirements of full-time caring roles. Many facilities are able to offer bookings for short, long and regular periods. This service enables consistency of care in a familiar environment with familiar staff and minimises the disruptive impact of short or long term placement in inconsistent locations. It also supports the carer and enables the client to continue living in the environment of their choice with the effective processes in place.
