Getting the help at home you need...
Rosie's Story
Rosie was only just 65, she loved living in her own home but was starting to find the up keep, just the basics like cleaning and shopping a bit of a challenge. She had the beginnings of rheumatoid arthritis. She was worried she would have to move into an Aged Care Facility, so went to chat to her GP about her options.
Luckily Rosie’s GP knew about the services provided by Southern Cross Care (Qld). He explained how they operate under the Ageing in Place scheme and are able to provide someone who wants to remain in their home, up to 24 hour, round the clock assistance.
He also explained that Southern Cross Care (Qld) not only provide support at home for the Aged. They are able to support all ages, in fact anyone who needs help in their home to complete day-to-day tasks.
Rosie thought of her daughter, Coleen, who was recovering from chemotherapy, at home with 2 small boys and decided to look into what Southern Cross Care (Qld) could do for her.
Rosie applied to Southern Cross Care (Qld) immediately. Now twice a week, a lovely lady named Cassie comes to the house. Early in the week to help her clean throughout, put on the washing and get things sorted for dinners each night.
On the second visit she is driven to the Supermarket, Doctors and Hospital visits, in fact anywhere she needs to go for appointments and errands.
Her carer can never do enough, “she is like my best friend....I look forward to her visits, not just for what she does for me but for the company. She is genuinely interested in my family, how I am and what is happening with my friends at the bowls club. Obviously I can’t play bowls anymore but sometimes Cassie even takes me down to the club for lunch. My life is back on track, and I do not live each day worrying about having a fall and no-one finding out until it’s too late”.
