Aged care and retirement living remains a dynamic industry for residents and providers alike, and Southern Cross Care Queensland is committed to providing aged care and retirement living services which value and respect human life and the dignity of the individual. The current Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety has highlighted future challenges and opportunities for delivering accessible, affordable and high-quality aged care services. There exist real challenges in providing these services in such a changing environment, particularly in delivering care in regional and rural Queensland.
Southern Cross Care Queensland is well positioned to meet these challenges going forward with the recent appointment of their new Chief Executive Officer, Jason Eldering. Mr Eldering brings with him a rich background in aged care, home care and retirement living, with almost twenty years’ experience working for not-for-profit, private and publicly-listed providers. For the past 12 months, Jason has operated his consultancy Fore Purpose, whose clients have included Mercy Partners and the University of Queensland Health Care. His previous roles include Queensland Operations Manager for Regis Health Care, General Manager at St Vincent’s Health Australia and Executive General Manager – Integrated Retirement Communities at Aveo.
Mr Eldering said he was delighted to accept the role at Southern Cross Care. “I look forward to working with the Southern Cross Care team throughout Queensland. Through my work in aged care, home care and retirement living, I have been made aware of the wonderful reputation of Southern Cross Care. It’s my true privilege to join this team, and I look forward to meeting staff and residents.”
Mr Eldering added that he was proud of the services Southern Cross Care delivers through its beautiful people and dedicated community volunteers who provide care with love and passion. “Southern Cross Care is consistently an aged care and retirement living provider of choice for families across Queensland, and I look forward to continuing this reputation for excellence.”
Southern Cross Care Queensland Chairman Don Neander OAM said that he was proud of the good work that Southern Cross Care continues to do in both urban and regional areas and welcomed Mr Eldering to the role. “We are excited about the expertise and knowledge that Jason will bring to Southern Cross Care, particularly his twenty years of industry experience.”
Mr Neander added his thanks on behalf of the Board of Directors to the Southern Cross Care team, who he said continues to make a strong impact on the lives of Queenslanders in showing great commitment to the wider communities that they serve. “In particular I’d like to thank Damien Finger for his outstanding service as our Interim CEO,” said Mr Neander.
Mr Eldering commences in the role today, November 11.
