A spoonful of entertainment for Illoura residents

On Friday 22 November, residents from Illoura Village enjoyed an outing to Chinchilla Cultural Centre to watch an exclusive performance of the musical Mary Poppins.

The production, performed by students at Chinchilla Christian College from Prep to Year 12, was the final dress rehearsal before the musical’s opening night and Illoura residents were thrilled to receive a special invitation to attend.

The residents were thoroughly impressed with the performance and talent of the students, and were delighted to be able to meet the cast, have a chat and take photos together.
Rachel Taylor, a registered nurse at Illoura Village, said residents always look forward to special outings such as this. “Before the outing our residents were excited: checking the date and time to ensure they wouldn’t miss the performance,” said Ms Taylor. “When they arrived home from the outing they were beaming with excitement and couldn’t wait to tell the staff and other residents about the performance.”

Ms Taylor explained that outings like the Mary Poppins musical have an immediately positive effect on the resident’s morale and thanked Chinchilla Christian College for the opportunity for Illoura residents to attend the performance. Ms Taylor also thanked Chinchilla Taxi Service and The Palms Motel who assisted in transporting residents to and from the performance.

Ms Taylor finished by saying: “There’s only one word to describe being part of a community like Chinchilla – supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”
