Pride in our past, faith in our future.
To be a strong and faith-filled Catholic fraternity committed to serving our church throughout Australia.
For any organisation to exist for 100 years is extraordinary. For the Knights of the Southern Cross in Queensland it is a testament to the self-giving service of the Catholic men who have nurtured the organisation from inception never knowing where it might lead. A century along, our Founders would be smiling and are being smiled upon. Did they have foresight? Perhaps. Did they follow our Lord’s holy inspirations? Without a doubt.
Order undertakings were met with an understanding that Knights must go “out” to achieve our Objects; out to meet the world to do God’s work in unspoken evangelisation. There has been tenacity of effort combined with the generosity and support of our families, which have filled hearts with God given satisfaction for all.
A joyful privilege now held by us in the representation of all Knights, past and present, in celebrating our 100 years of Catholic fraternal service throughout Queensland.
O God, bless all fellow Members of the Knights of the Southern Cross and their families.
Bless all our activities and inspire us at all times to work for Your greater glory and the salvation of all.
May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
The Mary Mackillop Cross was made by the Knights in South Australia from the timber floorboards from the School she established at Penola.
The Cross will be on display at the Qld Centenary Celebrations.
The Knights pray the Mary the Cross Mackillop Prayer (below) at all meetings throughout Australia for her intersession.
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Prayer
Most loving God, we thank you for the example of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, who in her living of the Gospel witnessed to the human dignity of each person. She faced life’s challenges with faith and courage. We pray through her intercession for our needs.
We make this prayer through Jesus the Lord. Amen.
