Right now, Queensland is in the grip of a severe housing crisis. Skyrocketing rents, a lack of affordable housing, and ongoing cost-of-living pressures are pushing more people into homelessness than ever before. Every night, thousands of Queenslanders — including families and children — are sleeping rough, in cars, or couch surfing. Many are experiencing homelessness for the very first time.
At Southern Cross Care Queensland, we believe that having a safe place to sleep is a basic human right. It’s a belief that underpins our mission to value and respect human life. That’s why SCCQ senior leaders will once again join business, community, and government leaders to sleep out for the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout on Thursday 19 June at The Gabba.
The CEO Sleepout is more than a symbolic gesture. It’s a powerful opportunity to raise critical funds and awareness for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The money raised goes directly to Vinnies’ services, providing emergency accommodation, meals, education, counselling, and long-term support that helps people get back on their feet.
The need has never been greater. Every dollar raised will help ensure that Vinnies can continue to meet rising demand — brought on by economic hardship, housing shortages, and a cost-of-living crisis that shows no sign of slowing down.
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 to fund emergency beds, meals, and essential support programs for vulnerable individuals and families across Queensland.
If you’re in a position to help, we’re asking you to please give generously. Your donation, no matter the size, is tax deductible and can make a real, immediate difference.
