Help us end homelessness

19 May 2022

Having a safe place to sleep at night is a basic human right and aligns to Southern Cross Care Queensland’s mission that values and respects human life.

Yet right now, more than 116,000 Australians are sleeping on our streets each night.  Of these, 60% are under 35, 44% are women and shockingly, 13% are under 12 years old.

Homelessness is a modern tragedy that can affect anyone at any time, and that’s why Southern Cross Care Queensland CEO, Jason Eldering, is leading a team in the annual Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout.

On Thursday 23 June, the team will walk in the shoes of the homeless, sleeping rough at Brisbane’s Riverstage in an effort to urgently raise our team target of $40,000.

Right now, Queensland is experiencing an extreme housing crisis.  An influx of interstate migration and sky-rocketing rents are forcing ever more people to live in their cars or worse, on the cold streets.

We are calling on all who, like us,  have the comfort of a roof over your head each night – to do what you can to help us make a difference!

All donations are tax deductible and we would be so grateful if you could please dig deep and give what you can, every dollar helps.

Please help us raise $40,000 for emergency beds, food and support programs to help get vulnerable Queensland families off the streets and into safe homes today.

You can donate now to the Southern Cross Care Queensland team fundraising page here .

Thank you for  helping us to end the heart-breaking cycle of homelessness.
