Illoura Village residents visit Chinchilla Weir

9 January 2025

A heartfelt wish came true for Illoura Village resident Owen, who had longed to revisit Chinchilla Weir, a beloved spot he first saw built in 1973.

Located just on the outskirts of town, Chinchilla Weir is a beautiful recreational area known for its serene bush setting and picturesque views. The lovely nature trails that follow the water’s edge and the sheltered picnic areas with BBQ facilities have made it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.

Thanks to our Illoura Village Maintenance Officer, Dan, who stepped up as the bus driver for the day, the trip became a reality. Dan helped transport two full busloads of residents to enjoy the stunning landscape and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that the Weir offers. The outing was filled with laughter, joy, and memorable moments as our residents soaked in the beauty of the area, reliving fond memories.

A special thank you goes to SQRH staff members Colleen and Clare, along with the students who joined us, adding even more warmth to the day. We also thank all the staff who made the outing possible, going above and beyond to ensure our residents had an unforgettable experience. This outing was a true embodiment of our SCCQ values of Service and Compassion.
