Celebrating Aged Care Employee Day – #thanksforcaring

30 July 2020

Nominate your Superheroes

All Australians are being urged to reach out to people they know who work in aged care on Wednesday 7 August this year and help recognise the positive contribution they make to the lives of our older Australians and the wider community.

Aged Care Employee Day is a national day to say thank you to the more than 365,000 dedicated people who care for and support around 1.3 million older Australians who receive care and services each year.

The day is designed to celebrate each and every team member involved in the journey of caring for older Australians. From the nurses and care workers, to the cooks and hospitality teams, to the drivers, cleaners and laundry employees, to the volunteers, to the leisure and lifestyle officers and administration teams – this day is to recognise the entire workforce.

We want to say thank you! Thanks for caring!

Let us know why you want to thank a Superhero – fill in the form and we’ll post it here to let all our aged care employees know how much we love and appreciate them!

Our wall of thanks and appreciation

Thanks to aged care workers!

Thank you for loving the residents you work with as if they were members of your own family. This means so much to all of us and our community.

Thank you Illoura Village, Chinchilla!

They are a very hard working team who have been through a lot in the last few years and are now performing amazingly to give the best of care and happiness to the residents.

Barbara Stockill, Edens Landing Residential Aged Care

Barbara Stockill is our maintenance lady here at Edens Landing Residential Aged Care . She is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. Barbara goes above and beyond in her job and I honestly admire her work ethic so much. Barbara is always that person to make me laugh and the residents also. She lights up every room she walks into and is such a great asset for this company. Barbara is such a worthy person to be named a “Superhero” here at our site, she is such a hard worker and is so dedicated to her job . Very thankful for all of her hard work .

Our Stretton Gardens team

I love and appreciate my Stretton Gardens aged care superheroes for making our Residents feel at home. The staff often go above and beyond to ensure our residents are comfortable. During this COVID 19 pandemic staff have used creative ways in looking after our resident’s physical and mental well being. The passionate care from all departments is outstanding and obvious.

Susie Waller, Stretton Gardens Residential Aged Care

Susie always gives 110%. Susie is usually the first to arrive and last to leave. She really cares about the best interests of the residents, and is always willing to help out a fellow worker.

Philippa Weilbach, Illoura Village, Chinchilla

I have been working in Chinchilla for about 6 going on 7 weeks now and I had most amazing teaching experience one night last week. I had to help with one of the rounds. I learnt from Philippa in maybe 10 minutes what would take someone a very long time to learn.  All I can say is that Philippa is an amazing, patient, calming and dedicated person working here at Illoura, Chinchilla.
