Southern Cross Care is a Catholic, not-for-profit organisation founded over 40 years ago by the Knights of the Southern Cross meet the growing needs of the most vulnerable in our community, the ageing population.
For more than 40 years, Southern Cross Care has been providing compassionate care and inclusive support to older Australians. It all began in 1979, when the Knights Of The Southern Cross recognised the growing need for aged care services in the community. Their vision and perseverance led to the opening of our very first aged care home, Archbishop Duhig Court, at Holland Park.
Since those early days, we’ve continued to evolve and grow to meet the changing needs of those we serve. Today, we deliver residential aged care, retirement living, and home care to more than 3,000 people, supported by over 1,800 dedicated staff. Our footprint includes 17 residential aged care homes, 8 retirement villages, and home care clients across Queensland and regional New South Wales and Victoria.
At our heart, we remain committed to delivering person-centred, high-quality care grounded in dignity, compassion, and connection—just as we have for more than four decades.
We respect the lives and honour the unique stories of every resident, which guides everything we do.
Our values of Service, Courage, Compassion are what we hold most dear, they are the core beliefs that bind us together. To us, service means serving the greater good.
