Economic Impact study highlights challenges and opportunities for aged care in regional Queensland

7 February 2023

Last year, SCCQ commissioned research firm, Evaluate, to undertake a study on the Economic Impact of a Proposed Aged Care Service in Chinchilla, Queensland. Our current aged care service located at Chinchilla, Illoura Village,  supports up to 66 residents and our home care services help seniors in the region to remain living independently in their own home.

The economic impact study has highlighted the challenges facing the delivery of quality aged care and home care in rural and remote areas as well as the opportunities that strategic and innovative investment in healthy ageing can create.

The first stage of SCCQ’s Master Plan for the Chinchilla region kicks off this year. You can view our Vision for Chinchilla and latest project update here.

In 2023, we’re looking forward to continuing our work with our strategic partners. These partnerships signal another step forward for SCCQ and our goal to develop regional alliances and strategies that build suitable aged care in rural areas of Queensland.

Together our goal is to address some of the issues our regional and rural communities face by creating additional education and training opportunities, growing a regional workforce which is socially and economically sustainable and increasing access to aged care for members of the community and region.
