At Southern Cross Care, we are proud to celebrate the inspirational dedication of our staff, and a few months ago, Majella Baker, Residential Manager at Allora Homestead Residential Aged Care, marked an incredible milestone – 40 years of service to Southern Cross Care and the Allora community.
Majella’s long tenure reflects not only her professional commitment but also a deep connection with the residents and families she serves.
“There has been a kaleidoscope of change, challenges, and triumphs over the years,” she shared. “There’s been heartbreak, joy, but most of all, it has been so rewarding to serve this community. We’ve walked side by side with our residents and their families until they reach the end of this life’s road. It’s truly a privilege.”
Allora Homestead, nestled in the Southern Downs, has long been a sanctuary for residents, fostering a sense of belonging and connection. Through four decades of service, Majella has helped ensure residents feel known, loved, and supported every day.
Residents describe Majella as at the heart of the Homestead family. Joyce says – “Majella leads the staff in treating each of us with respect and care, forming personal relationships that enable her to know our strengths and weaknesses. I consider Majella my carer, my mentor, and most importantly, my friend.”
Kay adds – “Her commitment, dedication, and unwavering loyalty is an inspiration to everyone around her. Her legacy of professionalism and integrity continues to have a lasting impact on many families and community members over the past three decades.”
Southern Cross Care is profoundly grateful for Majella’s tireless dedication. Her career is a shining example of service, courage, and compassion, and her influence will continue to shape the Allora community for years to come.
