Carinya residents tour a C27 Spartan aircraft

23 January 2025

Residents of Carinya aged care home were treated to an unforgettable experience when they visited the local airport in Miles to explore the impressive C27 Spartan aircraft. The day was made even more special with the warm hospitality of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) personnel, who greeted our residents with open arms and gave them an exclusive guided tour of the aircraft.

The RAAF team shared their knowledge of the C27 Spartan, explaining its capabilities. But it wasn’t just the aircraft that captured everyone’s attention. Our residents, with their wealth of life experiences, captivated the young airmen and women by sharing their own stories — from travels to life lessons — and the exchange between the generations was a highlight of the day.

It was a beautiful moment of connection, as both the residents and the Air Force team learned from one another, creating lasting memories for all involved. A special thank you to the RAAF personnel and airport supervisor, Jamie, for making this day possible and for providing an enriching experience that will be remembered for years to come.

It was a perfect reminder of the power of shared experiences and the joy of connecting across generations.
