In just seven months, Alyshia (Ally) McKenna has become a much-loved Support Worker with our Western Downs Home Care team.
Her journey is one of perseverance, dedication, and despite facing some personal and learning challenges, her passion for helping others and eagerness to work, shone through at her interview. Ally’s drive to learn and her genuine care for others have made her a valued part of our team.
Ally was referred to Southern Cross Care through a local Job Network agency in Chinchilla, and since joining our team, Ally has embraced every aspect of her role with warmth and enthusiasm. She’s built strong connections with her clients and continues to grow in skill and confidence.
Recently, yAll’s efforts were recognised in a big way when she received the Elissa Flanagan Aim High Scholarship Award at the 2025 Business disABILITY Awards in Toowoomba. The award celebrates individuals who have overcome adversity and are making a real difference in their communities.
A single mum of five, Ally spoke at the event about how much it means to show her children that with hard work and belief in yourself, anything is possible. Her story moved the audience, and made all of us at Southern Cross Care incredibly proud.
Congratulations Ally!
