Our residents and staff at The Vines Retirement Estate in Mildura recently celebrated a truly special milestone with resident Doss Lambert turning 105 years young.
A longtime member of the community, Doss has lived at The Vines for 23 years and marked her birthday with friends over cake and coffee, followed by a special lunch with family.
Doss, who arrived in Australia from Birmingham, England as a three-year-old, credits her long life to leading a quiet, healthy lifestyle and having a wonderful husband, Ed, to whom she was married for 70 years, before his passing six years ago. Doss has also been blessed with a son, a daughter, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Doss is passionate about keeping well and maintaining her independence and has been an inspiration to fellow residents for her fitness, sharp mind, and clear memory.
Trevor Watts, The Vines Village Manager shares, “I have known Doss for the past eight years. She has always been an inspiration, and we often joke that she has the wrong date on her birth certificate.
“Up until recently, she would walk unassisted, often outpacing those 20 years her junior. She is incredibly sharp, with a memory that rivals people half her age. Talking with Doss is always a joy as she brings laughter, wisdom, and warmth to everyone around her.” Surrounded by family, friends, and supportive neighbours, Doss’ milestone is a celebration of life, community, and resilience.
