Three Connolly Court residents at Edens Landing turned a simple hobby into an act of kindness, spending two months knitting scarves and beanies for their fellow residents in Allora.
Evy, Maureen and Rhonda put their needles to work, creating around 20 colourful pieces to help keep others warm through the chilly winter. Their inspiration came from an earlier project, when residents had knitted beanies for people experiencing homelessness. Seeing the joy that small gesture created, they decided to continue the tradition of giving, this time closer to home.
When the scarves and beanies arrived at Allora Homestead and Allora Nursing Home, they brought smiles and a sense of connection to the residents there. One resident shared, “Thank you so much! A lot of time and effort went into making these, and they’re just beautiful.”
Our Connolly Court Residential Manager, Ravinder Kaur, praised the initiative, noting that it exemplifies the spirit of kindness and connection that defines life at SCC. “It’s wonderful to see our residents looking out for others and taking the time to give back. Small acts of care like this make a big difference,” she said.
This effort is a beautiful reminder of the community spirit that thrives within Southern Cross Care. A ball of yarn, a few knitting needles and hours of patient stitching have created not just scarves and beanies, but bonds of warmth between two homes.
