On Thursday 18 June, as the temperature drops across Brisbane, Southern Cross Care senior leaders will sleep outdoors at The Amphitheatre, Roma Street Parkland. They’ll be joining other business, government and community leaders to raise awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness that are sleeping in their cars, temporary accommodation, or on the streets.
Having a safe place to sleep at night is a basic human right, but right now in Australia, more than 122,000 people, including families, children, and older women, are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a powerful opportunity to raise critical funds and awareness for these people. The money raised goes directly to Vinnies’ services, providing emergency accommodation, meals, education, counselling, and long-term support that helps people get back on their feet.
The housing and cost-of-living crisis continues to push more people to the brink. Every dollar raised will help ensure that Vinnies can continue its vital work in communities across Australia.
