More than $22,000 raised to help end homelessness

30 June 2022

This time last week, on Thursday 23 June, the SCCQ sleepout team, Sandra Glaister, Mark Botsford, Michael Hart, Scott Norton and Adam Priest, were gearing up to spend the night sleeping rough at Brisbane’s Riverstage as part of the 2022 Vinnies Australia CEO Sleepout.

Team SCCQ joined business, government and community leaders to sleep under the stars on what was one of the longest and coldest nights of the year.

For our ‘sleepers’, it was just one night of discomfort. But for the more than 116,000 Australians who don’t have a place to call home, there’s no end in sight. Participating in the 2022 CEO Sleepout gave Team SCCQ a small glimpse into what it’s like to sleep rough for the tens of thousands of Australians who do it every night. Everyone deserves a safe place to sleep, and a safe place to call home. Especially in the dead of winter.

Together, thanks to your generosity and support, SCCQ has raised more than $22,000 which will go directly to Vinnies so they can provide emergency beds, food and support programs to help get vulnerable Queensland families off the streets and into safe homes. This is no small feat, and thank you again for making a difference to the lives of the vulnerable Australians who walk among us.

On behalf of the sleepout team members, and the people whose lives will be changed for the better, THANK YOU for continuing to lend us your Service, Courage and Compassion, and helping us end the heart-breaking cycle of homelessness and poverty in Australia.
