At our St Mary’s Residential Care home in Raceview, a simple table has become a place where everyone can take part, regardless of ability.
Through a partnership with the Ipswich Library, residents have been introduced to the Omni Vista Projector, an engaging program that transforms everyday surfaces into interactive games and quizzes.
Residents gather around the table to take part in activities using soft bean bags or simply their hands on a projected image, ensuring accessibility for all. The interactive games encourage gentle movement, teamwork and cognitive engagement, while remaining adaptable to everyone’s needs and abilities.
For Lifestyle Team Leader Anastasia Booth, what stands out most is how inclusive the experience is. “There are no right or wrong answers, and no barriers to participation,” she said. “Whether residents are in a wheelchair, a recliner, or living with cognitive impairment, everyone can join in and feel part of the moment.”
The impact has been both social and emotional. Residents support and encourage one another, creating an environment filled with laughter, conversation and shared enjoyment. Families have also shared positive feedback, noting the sense of connection and wellbeing the sessions bring.
“Seeing residents come together, regardless of their abilities, is incredibly special,” Anastasia shared.
After two successful sessions, St Mary’s looks forward to continuing the program, demonstrating that when activities are designed with inclusion in mind, every resident can participate, connect and thrive.
