Our Transition to Practice program in Aged Care is a comprehensive initiative aimed at supporting new professionals as they embark on their careers in this vital sector. Designed to bridge the gap between education and real-world caregiving, this program is offered in partnership with Australian College of Nursing provides structured guidance, mentorship, and hands-on experience to ensure a smooth and confident transition into the aged care environment.
By providing tailored support and resources, we empower participants to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to deliver high-quality care to elderly residents.

As part of Southern Cross Care’s Enterprise Agreement, we offer an expedited pay point progression to allow successful RN/EN applicants to demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development with SCC. This agreement is a type of independent learning contract between SCC and the learner.
The benefit to the learner is that they can move quickly and easily through the pay points, at 6-month intervals (rather than 12 months) to maximise earning and learning potential.
Every new RN and EN receives an EOI application via Southern Cross Connect within the first two weeks of their employment with SCC.
Our Enrolled Nurses (ENs) have the opportunity to advance their careers and become Registered Nurses (RNs) through our EN to RN Pathway program. This initiative recognises the valuable experience and dedication of ENs and provides a structured pathway for them to expand their knowledge and skills. A combination of academic coursework, clinical training, and mentorship is provided, giving participants the support and resources needed to successfully transition to the role of an RN.
